WMA Company and Services Overview

WMA Wellness Inc. is a provider of positive psychology workplace solutions and organizational consulting. WMA has designed the Positive Workplace Framework (PWF) to assist organizations in implementing evidence-informed positive psychology practices that contribute to healthy and effective workplace environments. The PWF provides a cost-effective strategy for:

  • Increasing employee wellbeing, engagement and performance
  • Lowering costs related to absenteeism, stressful workplace interactions
  • Increasing productivity

Positive Workplace Framework

The PWF Is composed of Three Core Practice Domains outlining thirteen evidence-informed positive psychology practices for optimizing workplace environments.

The PWF has been applied within workplace environments in public and private sectors across Canada. PWF case studies have been associated with collective actions to promote workplace positive mental health, positive shifts in workplace culture, increased employee engagement, and decreased expenditures related to employee assistance supports.

Applications of the PWF are also being applied and promoted in territories of France and Latin America. All WMA products and services are fully bilingual (French and English), with the most recent applications of our products and services being undertaken in Spanish.

WMA Products and Services

WMA Wellness provides a range of product and services that allow public and private sector organizations and corporations to build capacity for promoting and embedding evidence-based positive workplace practices over the long term.

Our products and services equip human resource professionals, managers and leaders with the skills and resources for applying, modelling and training others in positive workplace practices. WMA validated measures (Mental Fitness and Resiliency Inventory, Positive Leadership Inventory) are used to monitor changes in workplace culture that contribute to optimized workplace environments (Wellbeing, Engagement, Performance).

Employees and leaders trained and certified in the PWF have access to a comprehensive online resource platform that will enable them to strategically plan, implement and embed Mental Fitness, Resiliency and Positive Leadership.

WMA products and services include three main components:

Component 1: Application of Validated PWF Measures

The use of validated PWF measures will be undertaken to provide a baseline profile of workplace environments, to focus strategic planning activities, and to monitor progress related to embedding Mental Fitness, Resiliency and Positive Leadership Practices.

Validated PWF measures include the following:

  • The Mental Fitness and Resiliency Inventory (MFRI) measures the presence of positive workplace practices that contribute to healthy and effective workplace culture. The results of the MFRI provide a profile of organizational strengths (those practices which are embedded and comprehensive) and areas for development (those practices requiring promotion and capacity building) related to Mental Fitness and Resiliency.
  • The Positive Leadership Inventory (PLI) assesses the presence of positive leadership practices associated with healthy and effective workplace environments. The detailed PLI results highlight areas of organizational strength and areas for development related to positive leadership practices. The PLI includes a self-report and 360 format.

PWF measures (MFRI, PLI) are completed online by participants in approximately 8 minutes. Aggregate results are analyzed producing Personalized Workplace Reports for each unit or workplace team. Reports are accompanied by a menu of over one hundred strategies that can be tailored to specific workplace teams based on their respective results.

Component 2: Train the Trainer and Consultation with Trainers

This component involves equipping and certifying a team of trainers in PWF practices (Mental Fitness, Resiliency and Positive Leadership). It provides participants with the prerequisite knowledge, skills, resources and strategic plans for assisting individuals within organizational units and teams to apply, model and promote evidence-informed positive psychology practices that contribute to healthy and effective workplace communities.

WMA senior consultants are accessible to assist and provide support to certified PWF trainers in the rollout of training activities within each workplace unit or teams. The goal of the Train the Trainer component is to build capacity within organizations to embed, expand and sustain practices over multiple years.

Component 3: Online PWF Learning Platform and Resources

The online PWF Learning Platform provides essential resources for promoting, embedding, and building capacity in PWF practices within workplace environments. The online resources are incorporated by PWF and certified trainers in the equipping of workplace champions and teams in Mental Fitness, Resiliency and Positive Leadership practices. Resource materials contained within the learning Platform provide the basis for workplace teams to develop and implement strategic plans for ensuring the creation of positive workplace cultures based on report outcomes from the MFRI and PLI. The PWF Learning Platform includes, but is not limited to:

  • Targeted instructional videos
  • Interactive eBooks
  • Team building awareness and capacity building activities
  • Presentation resources for trainers and workplace champions
  • Menus of strategies for tailoring strategic plans based on MFRI and PLI results
  • Structured strategic plans that provide rollout strategies over multiple years
  • Utilities for monitoring progress from baseline when MFRI and PLI measures are repeated

Resources can be used directly online or can be downloaded to accompany other training formats. The PWF Learning Platform and resources can be embedded within organizational processes as part of:

  • New employee orientations focusing on positive workplace environments
  • Leadership or management development training programs
  • Team professional development activities
  • Individual growth plans and professional reviews
  • Personal plans for employees and their family members to build positive and healthy relationships
